About Dr. Urse
John Urse, DO, FAOAO is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with specialized training in orthobiologics, i.e. using the patient’s own cells for healing and anti-inflammatory effects.
Dr. John Urse Bio:
Dr. Urse is the senior and founding physician for Orthopedic Association of SW Ohio, with 34 years of practice in Dayton. Dr. Urse is especially interested in arthroscopic shoulder, knee and hip surgery and has had additional training in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and arthroscopic hip surgery.
Dr. Urse is conducting ongoing research on gluteal tendon biomechanics and has lectured nationally on gluteus medius hip tendon repairs. His articles have been published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, Journal of Vascular Surgery, Journal of Arthroplasty, and Journal of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. He is a Master Instructor for Hip Arthroscopy for the Arthroscopy Association Of North America. Additionally, Dr. Urse was on the White House Committee for Alternative Medicine.

A Dayton, OH native, Kayla is a National Board Certified Physician Assistant working alongside Dr. Urse. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Wright State University, with high honors, and a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Kettering College. Kayla is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, as well as Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery.
Having spent majority of her life playing sports, Kayla has always had a passion for orthopedics. She promises to provide optimal patient care by evaluating, diagnosing, and discussing treatment options in great detail. In her spare time, she enjoys running, kayaking, boating, and spending time with family.

An initial consultation can explore individualized treatment plans, which may help avoid surgery or be used as an adjunct to a planned procedure. A determination can be made if the procedure is to be done in an office or in a hospital setting. Procedure costs will vary based upon your insurance, co-pays, deductibles, whether one or two body areas are chosen, and where your particular procedure is performed.
