It is a cell that can both reproduce itself, and also generate ‘offspring’ of different cell types, ie cartilage, bone, muscle, or fat. Regenerative cells taken from one’s own bone marrow or adipose (fat) sources are safest, as they do not invoke an immune reaction like those taken from other persons or animals.
